manhattan 23?
Lesley moved to New York a few months after leaving secondary school, taking advantage of a dual citizenship to escape the tedium of life in a run-down seaside town, and became the 19th Precinct's token Brit a few years later. Then she moved to the 23rd, Detective First Class, under the Criminal Enterprise chief for Manhattan North.
She and Jennings have gotten along pretty well. Neither of them are naturally the friendliest people, but they have the shared experience that comes of being women succeeding in an industry historically dominated by men. They make a good team.
And if Lesley has some professional relationships outside the NYPD that sometimes influence her work in subtle ways, well. That's nobody else's business.
She strides into the bullpen on Monday as usual, preemptively flicks the bird at the dickhead on the front desk who always has something to say about what she's wearing, and heads towards Jennings' office for their scheduled meeting.
"Got you coffee from that place on the corner."
